Why Launching While On Holiday Has Turned Out To Be A Grand Idea

Last week, I flew out to France to spend a few weeks at my parents’ place in a wee village just outside Cognac in the beautiful Charentaise countryside. The past 6 months have been really full on in my business – go go go!! Goddess readings, Practical Magic sessions, Goddess Guidance group tending and of course the launching and holding of the Practical Magic Business Circle. I’ve created a website to host the My Word Goddess Readings, I’ve published a book of poetry, and I’ve survived Christmas – just.

You might know all this already. You might have seen the offerings as they were each made available. You might have bought an ebook, claimed a circle place, ordered a My Word Goddess Reading or joined the Goddess Guidance group. But what you probably don’t know is that amongst all this busyness(!), I’ve not been well.

However, what I have been receiving on this trip is a sumptuous experience of being that has been *exactly* what I’ve needed. I can literally feel myself being nourished down to my bones. The light, the air, the food, the lilting language, and the beautifully grounded way of life… every bit of it feels tailor-made to prepare me for the next phase of my business.

Just as you may have known about my past offerings, you may also know that I am currently in the process of launching the next Practical Magic Business Circle. We begin on the 9th of March, and I will be accepting sign ups until the 8th. Which means that for the majority of this launch, I’ll be on holiday sampling the Pineau, the patisserie, and the placid pace of life as it is lived here – slow, sweet and easy.

I’m not pushing myself.
I’m not stretching myself.
I’m not struggling or striving or forcing.

I’m softening.
I’m slowing.
I’m dropping into the cradle of my body and letting things be as they will be.

What I have received in France after less than a week is the medicine that I, my business, my body, have been in need of. A slow savouring of each moment, of every morsel.

I have never felt the inclination to push a hard sell of any of my offerings – my marketing is, and will always be, invitational. I won’t push on pain points, because, let’s face it, there’s enough pain in the world without me aggravating or manufacturing more for the sake of a few more sales. And I won’t create false scarcity or false urgency.

Because, you see, I have the most immense reserves of compassion for my readers, my subscribers, my clients, and I demonstrate that at every stage of my business. What I am in the process of reclaiming in France is compassion for myself and for my body as I move to meet all in the way I most desire – with love, with presence, with humour, with respect, with joy.

It’s all very well to tend exquisitely to all those who engage with me and my business. But if I can’t do this for myself, then the whole endeavour becomes unsustainable.

As I experience all the beauty and deliciousness this trip offers me, I feel my whole being softening. And with that, I see the launch of the Practical Magic Business Circle unfolding, unfurling, so very beautifully. The women are gathering for this circle, and they are doing so easily, effortlessly and with a sense of deep knowing that this is the right support for them at the right time.

Every single woman who has already claimed her space in the next circle is there because she desires to be there. The Practical Magic Business Circle has spoken directly to the whisperings of her heart, and she has responded.

Together, we are going on a journey through the coming months, as spring will gently give way to summer. And together we will be learning and practicing a new way to do business – a way which is compassionate – for our readers, our subscribers, our clients, and yes, for ourselves.
