Whispering Lullabies to the Goddess

Each of us is here to discover our higher self or our spiritual self. That is the first fulfillment of the Law of Dharma. We must find out for ourself that inside us is a god or goddess in embryo that wants to be born so that we can express our divinity. ~ Deepak Chopra

Deep within the dark fertile places of my soul exists the embryo of a goddess. She stirs occasionally, as if disturbed by vivid dream, her limbs responding to images unseen. But for the most part, she remains asleep.

Still she grows. My tender and somewhat self-conscious ministrations creating space for her to expand. I am nurturing this part which is both of me and not. The macrocosmic within the microcosmic.

Our blood mingles. Our thoughts combine. Our words meld. Our breath shared.

Curled in upon herself, the spiralling embryonic form promises so much. The goddess and I know that this could go either way. I can continue to let her grow within me. Or I can cut off supplies, refusing her the sustenance she needs to thrive. Let her evaporate like dew in the surprising warmth of early morning sun.

And so I find myself speaking to her in the earnest, lilting tones of a lullaby. I find myself speaking to that self-conscious, thinking part of myself in the same tones. Because it’s so important to me that she keeps growing, keeps expanding – the divine spark preserved.

It’s ok, I say. You are ok.
