That, my lovelies, is but the bones of the journey I am offering you. So let’s flesh it out a little, shall we?

In September 2012 I took my first selfie. And while I didn’t know it at the time, it was about to spark one of the most insightful practices of my life. This is it here….

When I look at the women in this photograph, I am reminded of where she was in that moment.

This is a woman who had been struggling with crippling pain in her left hip which had left her housebound for months and then moving like a woman at least twice her age.

This is a woman who was struggling with feelings of isolation and deep deep loneliness. Not so much a girl interrupted, but a woman disconnected.

This is a woman who really didn’t want to be looked at and found her very visibility profoundly challenging. She felt that the best way to remain invisible was to remain in her home.

I remember looking at this image at the time and being quite taken aback at the vibrancy and strength of the woman I saw reflected back as me. Even although I’m not looking at the lens, there’s a directness in my gaze, and a brightness to my energy. It seemed at odds with the way that I was viewing myself at the time. It stopped me in my tracks, and it asked some difficult questions about the parts of myself that I wasn’t claiming, the parts that remained unintegrated and, even worse, undermined.

Spurred on by these realisations, I decided to take a selfie every day for the next 30 days to see what else I would find reflected back. So I took more….

And more….

And more….

And with each selfie, I began to more fully appreciate myself in my wholeness. My selfie practice became a vital component in my efforts to craft lived experiences of creative sovereignty.

By the summer of 2013, I had taken 100s of selfies. Perhaps even 1000s. And I decided that I would share this practice in a very intimate online group. In the months preceding, I had learned the lesson that not everyone would understand this practice. Some would see it as narcissistic, vain, and attention-seeking. Some of these comments came from people I had considered to be my friends. And while their words were hurtful, I was still experiencing revelation upon revelation through this practice. It was too important to give up because of the uninformed opinions of others.

However, this difficult experience taught me of the vital importance of safe space. One of the pieces of feedback I so often receive from my online courses and groups is that the members feel safe to share what they feel called to share. I hold non-judgmental spaces which are held with utmost love, honour and respect for each and everyone participating there. And this is, naturally, what I brought to the Summer of Self & Soul – my first online course teaching the sacred practice of self-photography.

Witnessing the incredible impact of this work for the individuals that stepped forwards is something that will stay with me for a lifetime. The images that were shared were breathtaking in their beauty and in their honesty. I think we all learned so much more about ourselves and about each other than we ever expected to over that summer.

Since then, I have continued my own practice resulting in some of my selfies appearing in an Italian poster campaign for a contemporary theatre class, a billboard in Times Square, New York, the Louvre, Paris, my first solo exhibition in Portland, Oregon, and even projected onto a skyscraper. And if that doesn’t challenge your fears of visibility, nothing will!

Not only that, but I began to bring my teaching of a sacred selfie practice to my Goddess Guidance group. Through doing so, I have been gifted with new insights into the way in which my goddess work dovetails with my selfie practice. After all, my exploration of goddess archetype has always been the work of self-reflection and powerful integration to achieve creative sovereignty.

By connecting with each individual goddess, I was inviting parts of myself back home.

By creating self-portraits, I was doing the same.

When I look back at that first selfie, I recognise that woman – she is still me. And yet, my understanding of myself and the way I engage with the world is entirely altered. While recognising and honouring that I am on a lifelong journey of discovery and personal revelation, I stand at this point on my journey and know just how far I have come, and just how valuable this sacred selfie practice has been to my progress.

And so, my lovelies, the time has come to offer a new online experience that will not only teach you the practical and creative act of a selfie practice, but which will give you a safe space to explore and share and which will put you in touch with your goddess self in ways you’ve never experienced before.

In this special edition of The Goddess Self we will be working specifically with the 13 “faces” or qualities of your 2017 goddess that you have identified through the creative exercise included in your 2017 My Word Goddess Reading. And for this reason, this particular offering is only available to you as a recipient of the 2017 My Word Goddess Reading.

Starting on Wednesday the 1st of February, we will spend just over 4 weeks together exploring some of the most exquisite goddesses through developing a sacred selfie practice. We will reflect back to ourselves our goddess self.

Here’s how we’re going to do that….

* From the 30th Jan, you will be invited to join a secret FaceBook group – this is our safe and sacred circle where you will be invited to share your images and your reflections, and where you will receive information and prompts throughout our time in circle together.

* We will gather for a live group webinar on Wednesday 1st at 7pm UK time, where we will open our circle, and I will speak to you more about the goddess self through the story of Gaia – the great goddess who contains all aspects of self . I will also be sharing with you some of the more technical aspects of creating self-portraits, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

* I will be recording an audio of the webinar for those who are unable to attend, and there will also be detailed notes that explain the practice. I will be sharing this in our FaceBook group, where you are more than welcome to ask any questions that you have concerning the practice or the course.

* From the 3rd Feb, we will begin our practice by sharing our selfies along with any reflections that we may have relating to the 13 faces of your 2017 goddess. I will be on hand to support and encourage you there, as well as sharing my own images and thoughts.

* In circle, we will witness each other with empathy and love, as I hold a space of supportive community and conversation. While I will be the lead facilitator of this experience, I truly honour the individual and collective wisdom that will be present. I believe that each group has its own specific medicine, and that requires each of us to contribute to the cauldron, so to speak. So, I will be consciously nurturing and tending to ensure that this circle meets each of us where we are and serves to liberate us in our self-expression.

* Throughout our time together, I will also be sharing invitations, ideas, inspiration for your sacred selfie practice as you get to know your 2017 goddess. You will be invited to respond to these prompts into practice; however, you are equally welcome to go your own sweet way within the held container of the circle. This experience will best nourish you and your desire when you meet it with openness and self-kindness.

* We will gather for a second live webinar on the 6th of March at 7pm UK time, and this will be an opportunity for each to share her experience if she wishes to. What she learned about herself, what she learned about the practice, and what she will be taking forward with her as she continues her own personal journey of integrating her goddess self. And then we will close the circle together.

So, that, my lovelies is the invitation.

We will begin on the 1st Feb, which means that everyone needs to claim their space by midnight (UK time) Tuesday 31st of January. The price is £77. To book your place in this circle now, simply click on the Buy Now button below.

Amy before I buy, I need to know of I will be limited because I don’t own a cell phone. I do have an ipod touch with a camera with limited apps and functionality and a Mac with a program called Photo Booth.

Hi Donna – so, I’m not familiar with the ipod touch, however, the main app that we’re going to be working with is called Pixlr which you can check out here: https://pixlr.com/mobile

However, I would also say that Pixlr have a desktop client that you can use on your Mac. So even if you just use the ipod touch to take the photos, and then Pixlr on your Mac to edit, you’ll still be able to participate fully.

My recommendation would be to try and download Pixlr as an app onto your ipod and see if it works. If not, try playing with Pixlr Express on your Mac: https://pixlr.com/express/

There’s also the free desktop client to experiment with too: https://pixlr.com/desktop

      Hope that helps, honey!
