Goddess Guidance

So, my lovelies, if you know why you’re here (to gift yourself some Goddess Guidance) and time is of the essence – or you just know absolutely in your heart of hearts that this is what you desire and you just want it now – then scroll down the page a little to the payment options. I have both subscription options and a Patreon option. Take your pick, and your goddess and I will be in touch.

However, if you don’t really know much about Goddess Guidance, or, perhaps, you’re just in the mood for a story, then read on…

So, our story begins at that stage of an initiation probably best recognised as “not out of the woods yet”. I had just submitted my PhD thesis after 4 and half years of hard slog, and I was not in a good place. Stressed beyond reason and more exhausted than a brand new parent, I was quite literally curled up in a ball on the sofa with my middle and index finger resting against the hollow of my throat, feeling the flutter of my own heartbeat.

Just keep coming back to this, I would tell myself. Just keep coming home to your body. And this too will pass.

You know, folk tell you how tough a PhD is, and you kinda sorta believe them, but don’t really allow yourself to fully absorb what they’re saying. Yeah, you think, that’s your experience. And my experience will be mine. And the two won’t necessarily look alike. However, speaking from my own experience, a PhD journey is not an easy path. In fact, I think it’s possibly one of the most challenging initiations of my life so far. Well, certainly the most mentally challenging. Becoming a mother was pretty challenging too!

But with the PhD, I had literally felt my psyche begin to fragment. My thoughts were scattered, my moods were all over the place, I struggled to see myself with any clarity, and some days (especially in the last months before submission) it was all I could do to hold myself together and not splinter into a thousand pieces. I was a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. And I was teetering.

Perhaps not surprisingly, it was around this time that I began to explore my spirituality. Really, I was coming from that threshold place of fragmentation, and I needed something (anything!) to help me to stay in one piece. And so it was that, when everything was falling apart, I found the goddesses. Or maybe they found me.

I was reading Sera Beak’s Red Hot and Holy (a kind of luscious primer on spirituality that didn’t focus on religion as a framework for experiencing the divine) when I first stumbled across a reference to Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Everywoman. Don’t you just love the discovery trails that lead us from one book to the next? So, immersing myself in Jungian analyses of Ancient Greek goddess and god archetype came next – and truly, nothing has ever really been the same since.

One of the first things I noticed was the desire to identify my archetype. Which goddess was I, I wanted to know! Before coming to the swift realisation that I was all of them. That there was no expression of these goddesses that I was reading about that was not contained within me. For these goddesses are all multi-faceted expressions of the feminine. And I am the feminine embodied. So, why would only one or two goddesses be available to me as a means through which to identify myself?

So then, rather than choosing which goddess was “most like me”, I began to see which goddesses were most helpful as guides through specific experiences, through my initiations. Which goddesses, I asked, will guide me across the thresholds of my life?

Like I said, at the time, I was in a place of deep recovery following my PhD, and so I used the lens provided to me through these goddess archetypes as a way of reflecting on that experience. How were these goddesses expressing through me, even without my awareness? And how could I more actively forge relationships with them so as to more fully receive their wisdom?

Artemis, I instantly recognised, was the goddess most present with me throughout my post-graduate research years. I set the large goal of submitting within the set time-frame allowed for a full-time phd, and then within that, I had smaller goals set for chapter deadlines, research paper presentations, teaching experience, essay markings etc.

And so this goddess, the archeress with her feet planted in the earth – hip-width apart – her spine aligned and her gaze focused with pin-point accuracy on the target she wished to hit, perfectly illustrated my own intensity as I tensed my bow, released my arrows and hit my targets.

However, as I was quickly recognising, running Artemis energy when you don’t have a well-defined focus is disorientating at best and destructive at worst. In those weeks following graduation, I cast around constantly seeking my next goal. What came next, I wanted to know! What action can I take, what path can I follow, what do I need to do in this moment, and in this moment, and in this? I was spinning around firing at random and hitting nothing.

If Artemis is no longer helping, I thought, then which goddess would guide me best through this liminal transitional time? Which one would help me find my centre? Which one would give me the strategies I need in this moment to root more deeply into now?

Hestia stepped forward. Goddess of the home and hearth, of the divine spark, of the inward-turning spiral, of the meditative work of hands, of spiritual devotion, of deep commitment to self-care, and of sacred practice. I actively called on the goddess Hestia – I lit candles, I danced in spirals, I returned to my knitting, I discovered the healing nature of yoga. And, after a while, when I laid my middle and index fingers on the hollow of my throat, the heart beat I felt fluttering there was a familiar rhythm that sang of homecoming, of restoration, of a re-membered self, of wholeness.

Now, as is so often the case with revelations of the self and soul, I just couldn’t keep my discoveries to myself! I began to share these goddesses with my friends. I would listen to them speak of their troubles, their challenges, their struggles, in relationships, in health, in parenting, in spiritual crisis, in business. And then I would share with them a goddess story. Together we would gently tease out the ways in which the story could bring perspective, clear-seeing, good judgment, empathy, self-kindness, as well as ways to move forwards that spoke of conscious choice, creative sovereignty and sustainable growth.

Then friends of friends began to contact me asking for guidance, so I created a couple of basic services and started charging, so that fair exchange could be established wherein both they and I could show up fully to give and receive. But it wasn’t long before I felt the call to broaden and deepen my own knowledge base, so I began to connect with goddesses beyond the Ancient Greek pantheon. Hindu goddesses, Norse goddesses, Aztec goddesses, Celtic goddesses… My appetite was (and still is!) voracious.

To support others to access this fantastic wealth of Goddess Guidance, I established on FaceBook, to share regular group readings and invitations into self-reflection. And then, from there, I began offering individual readings. These readings are sent out on the first of every month to subscribers, many of whom have now worked with me for years, each receiving the gift of goddess guidance to help them to cross the thresholds of their lives, just as the goddesses continue to help me.

Here’s what some of them say about my Goddess Guidance work…

Having Amy’s personal support is like floating on gentle, rocking waves of the warmest ocean – completely relaxed and at rest. Amy has an uncanny ability to see what is happening in this moment and help me to see how to best work with what is. This personal work with Amy has helped me to bring more of the goddess energy into all areas of my life during a time of huge transition. ~ Nona Jordan, Business Yogini

A goddess is a goddess on any level, but when you dive deeper into the experience of goddess guidance you dive deeper into your own self truth. Amy’s support in this realm is profound. She is a vessel of wisdom, a connector and a sparkler for your soul. Her support works within you helping you to bolster your relationship with the goddesses, as well as your understanding of how their guidance can lift your soul. Premium as a descriptor doesn’t even begin to describe just how special her work is. ~ Tracey Selingo, Your Promise Profit

There are so many amazing goddess stories from all over the world. You don’t have to take them literally to realise that these stories have something to teach and inspire us, to help us think about ourselves differently and step in to our power. Thankfully Amy is an amazing story teller and is able to bring these stories to life. The premium membership is a way to access her story telling power in a personal way with a monthly appointment to reflect on whichever goddess may have a message for you. In this way supported by the stories of generations so you can start re-telling your own story with Amy’s amazing guiding power. ~ Mary Ann Mhina

While the majority of my Goddess Guidance work is delivered through these monthly subscriptions, I do offer one-off “as-you-like-it” Goddess Guidance readings. Particularly helpful when you’re facing (or in the midst of) an initiatory experience such as pregnancy, career change, divorce, empty nest, health challenges, business launch, relocation, creative block, a birthday or anniversary etc. these readings provide you with goddess support, inspiration, wisdom, comfort and clarity so as to guide you through the current challenges you face.

Because sometimes, what we really seek is the clarity to make conscious choices. And this is what the goddesses gift me. And this is what I want for you also.

So, if you’re interested in receiving regular Goddess Guidance on a monthly basis, check out my Patreon where both these options are available as tier rewards. You can choose to receive just the guides or just the guides and the calls, or you can select an option to take fuller advantage of everything I’m sharing over on Patreon – early access to podcast episodes, exclusive video and written content, weekly group calls, dark moon oracle readings and more!
