    I went looking for a feather…

I took myself out on a treasure hunt. If I’m being honest with myself, I was looking for a sign. A message, of sorts. A wink, perhaps, from the goddess to gift me with clear-seeing as I stare blindly into the mystery of things. And, if I’m being even more honest with both you and with me, I will admit that I’d already decided what my sign would be – a feather. Probably from a gull. Maybe a duck. A swan, if I was especially lucky. The place where I live, this home by the harbour, is alive with birds. Crows, starlings, cormorants, mallards, terns, gulls, goldfinches, swallows, swans, robins,…

A Cauldron Wrapped in Chains – My Year With Cerridwyn – A Guest Post From Melinda Sabo

This guest post by Melinda Sabo is part of a series celebrating the My Word Goddess Readings by honouring the gifts of the goddesses that stepped forward in 2014…. I became interested in Goddess archetypes and religions rooted in the Divine Feminine after reading “Dance of the Dissident Daughter” by Sue Monk Kidd in early 2012.  That year I learned about my shadow self with Persephone.  I decided to focus on her in particular after a discussion with a friend about how crows were Persephone’s underworld messengers and the symbol of the Muse in flight.  I’m obsessed with crows and creativity so she was a good fit.  I enjoyed spending a whole…

Rhiannon Reflections – A Guest Post from Mary Lunnen

This guest post by Mary Lunnen is part of a series celebrating the My Word Goddess Readings by honouring the gifts of the goddesses that stepped forward in 2014…. 2014 was the first time I had received a ‘goddess for the year’ from Amy Palko. Rhiannon is the Welsh horse goddess. Looking back now and reflecting, I feel that, a year ago, I had intentions of becoming clear, moving forward with ease towards my desires. I am not sure if I ever did get really clear about “What it is that you desire.” What I have done is being able to sit with what was, what is, with ease. To accept and…

Meeting Minerva – A Guest Post From Lokantina

This guest post by Lokantina is part of a series celebrating the My Word Goddess Readings by honouring the gifts of the goddesses that stepped forward in 2014…. When Minerva’s beautiful owl flew towards me and alighted on my shoulder at the beginning of the year, I was a little unsure. I knew Owl medicine very well but had limited experience of connecting with Minerva. My understanding of her was of a Mighty Warrior and a Goddess of War. I didn’t have the heart or the strength or the energy or the desire for a full year of war and I wanted to let her bird fly free and leave me. I…
